Day 77

Work continues apace on the new Bridge design, and by extension the rest of A Deck as well. I’ve refined the shape a bit more and added in the proper grooves for securing the windows in place;

I’ve also added in the track for the blast shielding, which will rise up to cover the windows, like so;

This is something people have been asking for fairly regularly, and the new window design lends itself very well to physical shielding of this nature. There will also be some vertical tracks embedded into the walls on either side of the windows, and also behind the overhanging parts of the hull. I really want there to be a lot of visual interest on the outer hull outside of the windows, so this sort of thing offers a lot of opportunities in that regard. I’ll add some warning markings and “Danger: Crush Hazard” type labelling.

I haven’t exported the new A Deck sections into UE4 yet, but here’s a sneak peek;

The layout will be pretty much the same as it is currently, but thanks to the new overall design I’ve been able to save a bit of space here and there. I might even have enough room for a toilet in the Captain’s office, so that would be nice smile

The next thing I’ll be adding is the alcove areas for the rear Bridge consoles, and the fairly large cavity around them will be used for routing all the power, data and life support hardware up to A Deck smile
