So far in 2023

This year is going so amazingly quickly. It’s been a busy one with regard to the development of Starsim.

General:
Designed and implemented a new tutorial system.
Significantly optimised most game systems.
Released our second public Tech Demo.

 

The Galaxy:
Built a new, more optimised atmosphere shader for all atmospheric worlds.
Built a new system for procedural planetary rings.
Replaced the existing black holes with an all-new fully volumetric system.
Added the ability to scan the galaxy by object type.

 

The Ship:
Significantly updated the Engineering decks, with new layouts, new walls, new floors, and new lighting.
Completely overhauled the electrical system, with 104 distro boxes and 417 individual cables.
Connected the FTL system to the reactor, so reactor output now affects FTL speed directly.
Built a whole new system for simulating various different types of fluids.
Built new code/models for pipework, valves, cryo coolers and pump hardware.
Built new UI panels for all of the new hardware.
