Lounge Panelling

I’ve spent the past couple of days making more wall panelling for the VIP Lounge, which sounds simple at face value but it’s quite a time-consuming process. Each individual panel is unique, frustratingly curvy, and also made as a separate 3D model in its own right:

Depending on the complexity of the curves involved, and the amount of geometry cleanup that needs to be done during the process, each panel can take upwards of 40 minutes or so to finish. With 21 panels made so far over the past 2 days, that equates to a good 14+ hours of straight modelling work. Madness!

Here’s what it looks like so far:

The white panels on the rear wall are hidden right now, but what I’ll be doing is unhiding those and building the general shape for the “cutting out” of the interior design. Much like the conference room, the white panels will wrap around the back and sides, but the wooden section will go up the back wall and across the ceiling. This highly complex technical drawing should make it clear wink:

I’ll play around with the shape until I find something that looks suitably sexy, but that’s approximately what it will look like. I’m also toying with the idea of some under-lighting around the edges for a hint of colour.

The next job is the main window frames, which I did start last night, but they’re super fiddly so I thought it best to tackle them with a fresh brain
