Work has continued on both the A Deck midsection and the updated engineering standards that are being used to build it. In a nutshell, all decks will have a surrounding cavity of at least 50cm that is formed from a grid of structural members. The outer layer will be a continuous sheet of titanium alloy, lined internally with a multi-layered insulating material that blocks harmful radiation, and also contains a gel that expands and hardens rapidly when exposed to vacuum for sealing minor hull breaches. The innermost layer of sheet titanium has holes cut between the structural members for mass reduction and access to ship infrastructure.<\/p>\n

All internal dividing walls will consist of a 40cm cavity, with the room-facing side being a solid sheet of titanium lined with insulating material. The cavity itself will generally contain ship infrastructure which is accessible from the corridor side via maintenance panels. The corridor facing sheet metal will also have holes cut between the structural members for mass reduction and maintenance access.<\/p>\n

The insulation material is just a placeholder for now. In the future, I’m going to have it mould around whatever infrastructure exists in the wall\/ceiling cavities.<\/p>\n

Aside from working on the above, I’ve also been working on the bridge dome, but that’s not quite ready for a big reveal yet<\/p>\n

Also, my new desk finally arrived! I spent the evening building the desk and sorting out my new office space, and I must say it’s a very comfortable working environment. This is where all the Starsim magic will happen from now on!<\/p>\n
