If you woke up tomorrow in orbit of Earth alone and registered as the Captain on a starship from Star Trek; which ship would you prefer it to be and what would you do with it?
I suspect I'd be too overwheled to do anything for months.

I'm assuming you wake up on the ship, otherwise that would be pretty terrifying! ;-)

No sure which ship prob the enterprise D. If I was alone, I would have to start learning how to use the ships computers and teleporters first (I would be doomed in a cold and dark start!) so I could teleport others on board who can help make sure the ship can run (and keep running) and then onwards into the unknown, anywhere and everywhere.

Helm plot a course to ... out there.

How about you MGM?

Once getting somewhat familiar with it and making sure it can beam me up whenever I want, I guess I'd be torn between keeping it secret for me and my circle, using it to help out it the world, or just using it to run away from Earth and explore like you haha.
Oh, and I'd definetly try to do a passive scan of the systems around Earth for signs of intellegent life, out of curiosity more than any goal.
As for the ship, I have to go with thr Enterprise D as well. That ship is massive and built like a hotel, you could live there forever.

Would have to be a ship that doesn't break apart at the first sublight turn for me. Probably a K'Vort class BoP. Agile, sturdy and built to handle incoming external forces.
Other valid options for me would be a Maquis raider or a Typhon class carrier. Maybe a Defiant.

If "Star Trek" is no longer a stipulation, a combination of multiple franchises. From the "Perry Rhodan" universe a "Structure-Variable Energy Cell" class ship - Only the primary reactors and energy-to-matter projectors are physically present, the rest of the ship is projected from energy and can be (re)programmed and restructured at any time. Combine that with Trek replicators for nutrition and everyday demands and you're good.
This energy to matter tech also allows for incoming energy to be absorbed and used for structural integrity. Energy weapons don't work against it. Basically a holodeck, but inside out and way more advanced.

Hmm, I guess a Perry Rhodan ship is fine. I'm more interested in what you'd do with it to fix problems on Earth, or to improve your life. Or if you'd just forget it, or do the opposite and just forget Earth to live on your ship and explore.

In that case 2 options:
1:
Nanobots the break down any weapons as well as defined deposits of plastics.
Messing up any and all satellites hard enough that the resulting debris screen prevents anyone from leaving the planet, forcing people to face the issues we have.

2: Shrugging, finding a few (hundred/thousand) similar minded people and getting out of here.

I'd probably go with the Enterprise E. The Refit is my favourite Trek ship, but the 1701-E has all the best toys and is much more comfortable. It's also a more streamlined version of the Refit shape, unlike the 1701-D... which I've never liked the shape of (sacrilege I know).

After exploring every square inch of the thing, I'd just set sail... thattaway... and find out what's out there.

For Trek, I'd have to go with the Intrepid-class, I think, and not just because I grew up with Voyager. It holds up pretty well on its own, and the technology is great. As for what I'd do with it? Probably crawl through every nook and cranny of the thing. Would be pretty lonely and creepy to be there alone though. Unless I get an EMH too (((:

Oh yeah, the first thing to do on any ship is probably make a beeline to the holodeck and generate some trainers to teach you how to actually use the ship. And chosing a ship with an EMH is great, imagine all the medical problems they could solve! I hadn't thought of holograms.
